Label Flashing

The NEW REMOTE LABEL FLASHING event in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in April 2001 arose through an invitation from SKC Gallery to do a promotional prelude to an upcoming exhibition in Belgrade, Rotterdam and Toronto.  Given the promotional character of the exhibition, NEW REMOTE decided to organize a fashion show.  Specifically to employ the fashion phenomenon of pants slung low to strut designer underwear labels.

NEW REMOTE artists arrived in Belgrade and immediately transformed the gallery into a production line for New Remote underwear fashions, inviting local artists to collaborate.  Five days were spent designing, sewing, choreographing, and responding to a great deal of media interest, as prep for The New Remote Label Flashing Event (fashion show) which took place on the sixth day.

As an offshoot of media interest, NR also produced the video INTERVIEW while NR artists were subtly mocked by a Belgrade news anchor from TV Politika.
