Songs of the Apocalypse, Montreal

The exhibition Songs of the Apocalypse is directly inspired by William Blake’s Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. First published together around 1794, these were intended to reflect upon the passage from what Blake considered to be the innocence of childhood to the experienced state of adulthood, a transition he characterized as a shift from a natural state to one of estrangement from nature. more

The NEW REMOTE is taking part at the Museum Night project in Serbia on May 19 2007, through an invitation from independent art association Kolektiv, Sabac. NEW REMOTE will continue AK-47 project that was started in the city of Maracaibo in Venezuela this year. more

Label Flashing - 2001


The NEW REMOTE LABEL FLASHING event in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in April 2001 arose through an invitation from SKC Gallery to do a promotional prelude to an upcoming exhibition in Belgrade, Rotterdam and Toronto.  Given the promotional character of the exhibition, NEW REMOTE decided to organize a fashion show.  Specifically to employ the fashion phenomenon of pants slung low to strut designer underwear labels. more

Presentation DAI - 2000

On December 1999 the New Remote was invited to give a presentation of the Haarlem/Akureyri works at DAI (Dutch Art Institute) in Enschede, The Netherlands. Rather than pursuing a conventional format (slide show, video viewing and talk with question/answer period), the New Remote turned the presentation into a performance reflective of the style of the Haarlem/Akureyri project. more

Todd Matsumoto headed the Dutch portion of the project. He created the NEW REMOTE LIVING SPACE in the Nieuwe Vide Gallery in Haarlem, a futuristic living environment equipped with phone, fax, video, TV and internet facilities, a kitchen area, and a bedroom designed to maximize comfort. more
